Reaction Roles
Let members give themselves roles with a reaction, a button, or a dropdown. All free.
Three styles
- Reaction: members react with an emoji to get a role. This is the default.
- Button: each role gets its own button under the message.
- Dropdown: every role goes into one dropdown menu.
Setting it up in Discord
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/role reaction-roles create [channel] [title] [description] [style] | Posts a new message for your roles. CITY gives you its message ID. |
/role reaction-roles add-option [message] [channel] | Links a role to a message. Use the message link, or its ID along with the channel. A reaction message needs an emoji for each role. Buttons and dropdowns can have a label instead. |
/role reaction-roles remove-option [message] [role] | Unlinks a role from a message. |
/role reaction-roles list | Shows every reaction role message set up in your server. |
Setting it up from the dashboard
Open your server at bossx.ca, go to the Reaction Roles tab and press Create Reaction Role. You pick the channel, the style and the roles, and you can see every reaction role message in one table.
Modes
Each message has a mode that decides how picking roles works. You can change it from the dashboard.
| Mode | How it works |
|---|---|
| Normal | Pick an option to get the role, and undo it (remove the reaction or press it again) to lose the role. |
| Unique | Only one option at a time. Picking a new one takes away the one they had before. |
| Verify | A one-time claim. CITY gives the role and removes the member's reaction straight away, and the role is never taken back. Good for a rules or verification channel. |
| Drop | The role is given and stays, even if the member removes their reaction later. |
Limits
Discord limits one message to 20 different emoji for the reaction style, and 25 options for buttons and dropdowns. If you need more roles, post another message.
