Embed Builder
Build and post custom embeds without writing any code. All free.
Two ways to build one
- In Discord: use
/embed. You need the Manage Messages permission, and you pick the channel it goes to. - On the dashboard: open your server at bossx.ca and go to the Embed Builder tab. Compose it, pick a channel, and send it.
The /embed command
Run /embed [channel] and CITY opens a builder only you can see. You can set:
- The title and the description.
- A color, as a hex code like
#0068ff. - An image and a thumbnail, from a link.
- Up to 25 fields. Each field has a name, a value, and whether it sits inline. You can remove the last field if you make a mistake.
When it looks right, press Send Embed. The builder lasts 15 minutes. To post as a webhook instead, set webhook to true and paste the link in webhook-link. That also needs the Manage Webhooks permission.
The dashboard builder
The dashboard builder has two modes:
- Classic Embed: the usual embed. You can add more than one embed to a message (Discord allows up to 10).
- Components: Discord's newer display components. Lay out text, sections with an image, pictures and dividers freely instead of a fixed embed shape, and pick a color for the whole message.
You can also add up to 5 link buttons under the message. They open a web address when clicked, and they work in either mode. Message content above the embed is optional.
Limits
These come from Discord, and CITY checks them for you:
| Part | Limit |
|---|---|
| Title | 256 characters |
| Description | 4,000 characters |
| Field name | 256 characters |
| Field value | 1,024 characters |
| Fields | 25 per embed |
| Total text in one embed | 6,000 characters |
| Link buttons | 5, with labels up to 80 characters |
Other places that use it
Welcome and leave messages and reaction role messages use the same embed format. Welcome and leave messages can use the placeholders on the Variables page, like the member's name or your server's member count.
